Where it all began…
As a child, I was blessed to have amazing, loving parents who encouraged and supported my passion for painting. My mother often sat with me while I painted, and my father joined in the fun and painted too. As time went on, I started selling items in small venues and Christmas stores.
My father and sister helped by painting base coats, then I added the details. That continued for several years until my mother became ill. She ultimately passed away over 20 years ago. Due to her illness, which attacked her central nervous system, she was unable to use any of her basic motor skills. She was unable to feed herself, move, talk, walk… It was like she was in a cocoon.
When she passed, my sister and I felt as if she was free. Like a butterfly, she was free. Throughout the days that followed, we noticed several monarch butterflies. On the day of her funeral a large monarch butterfly was fluttering around. Another one was there one year later when we, along with my father and all of my siblings, visited her grave. The Monarch butterfly became a beautiful reminder of the loving woman she was, and of the closeness within our family.
After some time passed, my sister and I were planning to start up the painting business again and were trying to come up with names. Once again, butterflies were in our midst and there was my little niece who loved them but couldn’t say butterfly. In her precious little voice, it always came out “flutterby”. With our family’s close connections, it was clear the perfect path forward was Flutterby Connections!
